Air Source Heating

Environmentally Friendly Heating System

The way we heat our homes is changing. At a time when we are all more conscious of both our outgoings and our carbon footprint then ever, Air Source Heating has emerged as the most cost effective and energy efficient way to heat your home.

The possibility of no more gas, oil or LPG bills, plus the potential to receive a Grant of £5000 through the Government Boiler Upgrade Scheme towards the cost of your new Air Source Heating System.

How Does Air Source Heating Work?

  • Heat from the air outside is absorbed into a liquid refrigerant causing it to boil and expand into gas.
  • A pump (compressor) then compresses the gas to further increase the temperature and push the gas through a heat exchanger.
  • The heat is transferred to the water in the heat exchanger which is then pumped around the heating system in your house (and hot water system if you have one attached).
  • For every 1 kw of energy used to operate the fan and pump, 4.6 kw is produced.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (also referred to as BUS) is a Government funding system set up to encourage the uptake of renewable heat technologies in homes across England and Wales.

The Government has put this incentive in place to promote the use of renewable heating, replacing costly fossil fuels and reducing global warming.

It is available to anyone who owns their own home in England and Wales and is designed to cover some, if not all, of the cost of the installation.

Using the details from your Energy Performance Certificate (if you don't already have one we can arrange to have one carried out for you) we will be able to determine whether you are eligible for the grant or not.

Unfortunately funding is only available for 30,000 air source heating systems this year and is awarded on a first come first serve basis.

The grant for air source heating to replace gas, oil or LPG boilers is set at £5000.

the most effective way to warm your home

Air Source Heating is environmentally friendly and works by extracting heat from the outside environment and using it to heat radiators or underfloor heating systems,  and can also provide hot water inside your home. Our systems produce around four times the energy they use, making them much more efficient than a gas boiler or almost any other type of heating.

An Air Source Heat Pump looks similar to an air conditioning unit on the outside of your home and works a bit like a fridge in reverse.

Using electricity, energy is extracted from the air outside and then absorbed into a liquid refrigerant. This then passes through a heat exchanger which transfers that energy into heat to create hot water which is then pumped through your radiators just the same as a conventional heating system.

Our Heating systems work out the most efficient way to keep your home at the most comfortable temperature for you.

You can programme in changes, such as being away on holiday so your home will be warm for you when you return.

Specially designed for our unpredictable British weather, the Heating Systems we install are able to extract energy from the air in temperatures as low as -15°C.

We only install the most efficient and up to date systems.
All our heat pumps have a 10 year manufacturers warranty as standard to give youpeace of mind.
Because Air Source Heating operates at a lower temperature than fossil fuel syst ems we may need to swap out some of the older, single -panel radiators your home may have to ensure we heat each room sufficiently. They can normally be replaced by double or triple panel led radiators that fit in the same space. Some older heat pump systems could be noisy but not any more.
Even when ours are running you can hear a pin drop! (see video)
